Schaubach Kunst Art Deco «Ballspielerin/Ball Player» Olympic Girl/Lady Figurine
A vintage, artist signed, porcelain figurine/sculpture manufactured by Porzellanfabrik Schaubach Kunst, a porcelain factory in Germany.
She was designed by Kurt Steiner in the Art Deco style to commemorate the 1936 Olympics in Berlin.
It is a very charming sculpture of a young, blue eyed, blonde young woman with a ball (probably a volleyball player).
It combines two different finishes: bisque (matte) for the flesh and glazed for the clothing, ball and base.
Period: 1950s (?)
Mark: Marked on plinth and underneath.
The bottom is marked «Schau Bach Kunst Germany» and the top is incised with «K Steiner». The green SCHAUBACH KUNST GERMANY crown mark was used in 1926–1953. The crossed lines have the additional letter ‘E’ attached.
To the right you can see «Foreign» stamped in green.
The bottom is also incised with 1285/1 (or 1285/I).
Materials: Bisque, Porcelain.
Condition: She is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, or crazing.
Size: It measures about 24.2 cm tall. Arm span 17 cm. Diameter of base 8 cm.
