French Limoges Footed Bowl Noted Limoges Artist Alexander William (1923)
This is Limoges (France) porcelain bowl resting on four feet.
The maker is Martin Freres and Brothers. They did not use their name. Their mark was a bird with a ribbon with “France” printed on an area of the ribbon.
The Limoges Artist’s Name: Alexander William.
The artist painted yellow flowers with green leaves on the inside of the bowl. The artist’s signature (artist’s name) is in blue underneath the bowl.
The rim is with gold trim. The feet are in gold with tiny wear to the gold on the underside of the feet. There is a bit of wear to the gold inside the bowl. There are no nicks, chips, cracks or crazing.
Backstamp(s): The green maker’s mark is Martin Freres and Brothers that features a bird with a ribbon with “LIMOGES – FRANCE” printed on the ribbon (underglaze); “Alexander William, XV. I. 1923.” (overglaze).
