Carlton Ware Jam/Jelly Pot/Jar, Yellow Fox Glove
Foxglove Australian Design, Made in England.
Here is a vintage (from the 1940s) Carlton Ware stoneware jam jar. It is an Australian Design and is called Yellow Fox Glove. It features a leafy, bulbous body with green leaf accents and red coloured flowers. The lid has a fox glove flower finial and a notch for a spoon handle. It is nice display piece, and can be used for jams, for jellies, and for condiments.
Mark: Its underside is marked with «Carlton Ware, Handpainted, Made in England, “Trade Mark”, Registered, Australian Design».
The jar has the number 1881(? – not clear) impressed on the underside.
Condition: There is a small flake on the base of the jar; the lid finial also has small chip. There is some discoloration/damage on the glaze Inside and outside (see photos).
